Martin Kerstein posted a heads up on the Guild Wars 2 forums regarding the upcoming content for November. There are no spoilers ahead, but if you don't want to miss a moment of Guild Wars 2 history in the making, be sure to make room for the scheduled times. The following is taken from that post.
On Friday November 16th at noon PST (20:00 GMT) the weekend will kick off with an Event in Lion's Arch that you don't want to miss. This will trigger events in other parts of Tyria as well.
On Saturday November 17th at noon PST (20:00 GMT), another phase will kick in.Each phase is triggered by a special event, but you will be able to enjoy additional content afterwards even if you cannot make the kick-off time.
There is one exception:The event will culminate in a big Finale on Sunday November 18, make sure you will not miss it. This will be a onetime only event chain that will run multiple hours, and it will kick off at noon PST (20:00 GMT).
There will be plenty of content available to enjoy that will remain permanently in the world as a result of the outcome of this event on Sunday.
Three whales have recently beached themselves on the beaches of Lions Arch. Locals first noticed the humpback whales shortly after the recent visit by Mad King Thorn and quickly called local Authorities and Aqua man in to help the gentle giants.
Theories have been made as to why these humpback whales have beached themselves with such ideas as giant crabs chasing them, whaling boats or that the whales simply wanted to join the recent Mad King Thorn parties, only to miss out by a day. One onlooker suggested that we shouldn't worry as to why they are here but instead suggested not letting the whales go to waste and having a beach BBQ of whale burgers. That onlooker has since been taken into custody for their own safety by the Lion Guard.
Regardless of the theories (or ideas of BBQs) as to why these gentle giants beached themselves it is agreed that the whales are distressed and efforts are underway to calm the whales before attempts are made to refloat the animals back to sea.
So if you're near Lions Arch please stop by and help a whale.
ArenaNet posted two images today on their Flickr and Facebook. Put together, this is what we have!

Hurricane Sandy has many asking for an extension of the Halloween events, however that won't be possible according to Martin Kerstein.
Martin Kerstein wrote:
We heard your questions about extending the Halloween event for those of you affected by Sandy. Unfortunately we cannot do that, but the reason why we can't is exciting: We are preparing for our big November update, which will start on November 15, and there will be content that will be in the game prior to that, leading up to the event. But we also want to use this moment to remind you all that your personal safety is much more important than any computer game. If you could be affected by the storm, please listen to the authorities and take every precaution to ensure you and your loved ones are safe. Tyria will still be there once the storm is over. In case you missed it, the most important line is not the date for the update, but the big heart going out to those affected by the storm.
We just know that you can't get enough of the Halloween theme and especially the Mad King's Clock Tower. Listen and download the music made by Maclaine Diemer for this month's events. Check out his SoundCloud page.
The Halloween theme is just brilliant. Listen carefully for that little Guild Wars 2 chime.
If you don't have 17 minutes to watch it, here's some quick notes!
Halloween content will be easily accessible to everyone regardless of how far you've taken your characters in Guild Wars 2.
During Halloween there will be unique resource nodes to gather (candy corn and more?) which can then be used to craft Halloween related items. After the Halloween event you'll only be able to get these resources off other players.
There will be additional content including new events, jumping puzzles (even in existing maps), new activities and new mini dungeons.
Achievements and dungeons will be more rewarding including karma.
As many guessed, the 4th "???" monthly achievement will be revealed tonight.
Matt mentioned checking out Fireheart Rise and Dreadnought Cliffs.
To much of the live audience's disappointment, guesting and PvP was not mentioned. There were many wondering about guild halls too. Fans are definitely pleased to hear that rewards provided by existing content will be improved.
PC Gamer shares their first look at Halloween in Guild Wars 2. If you're worried about the tiniest of spoilers, then stay far away from the below link to their site, otherwise not much has been spoiled considering the huge amount of content that ArenaNet is promising. We will begin to see Act 1 of 4 updates late this afternoon on Pacific Time.
Pink Day in Lion's Arch has begun! That was probably the longest continuous pre-show ever! If you're not at the action and have Guild Wars 2, please tune into GW-EN.com radio and consider joining one of the hosted servers for a day! A full listing can be found on the official Pink Day In LA page.
Events have been bought to you by Gamers Giving Back (and many community helpers!). If you cannot make it in person, in-game, just tune into to our streams here on GuildWars2Live.com.
Very soon you'll be able to find gem cards to purchase at your local retailers. This is great news for players who would rather not use their credit card online (nor Paypal). It's also a great sign that ArenaNet's business is growing rapidly. Below is a list of retailers that will be selling the gem cards in various countries.
Canada: Best Buy Canada, London Drugs, EBGames United States: Fred Meyer, Hasting, NewEgg, Fry's, Amazon Germany: Gamestop, Media Markt, Saturn France: FNAC, Amazon Belgium & Netherlands: Game Mania, Free Record Shop Italy: Amazon.it Spain: FNAC, Gamestop Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland: CDON, Webhallen South Africa: BT Games
Coming soon to Guild Wars 2, the first major game update to include a number of new features and new content to explore.
It sounds like the Mad King started slacking at some point since classic Guild Wars. I didn't think he would actual get tired of his jokes, but I suppose things do change. Perhaps he has taken a long break and enough of the right insanity will bring him back with better jokes! Then again, as the title suggests, we may only see his shadow this time around. Lets look forward to a frightening entertaining Halloween in Guild Wars 2!
Just The Facts
Halloween events start on October 22 and run until October 31.
There will be new mini-games, new dynamic events, and an adventure involving 4 acts
New items are coming to the Black Lion Trading Company, including new costumes to play Costume Brawl
Things have really slowed down here in the past month and especially since the release of Guild Wars 2. With today's news post I would like to cover some upcoming events and also address an issue that has recently come up.
First the bad news. Our Twitter account has been suspended. We had over 3200 followers on Twitter, a following of many fans like ourselves generated by the awesome stuff we do here and the great support we've received from many new friends in the past year.
This is a huge loss for us and for the community too. We used Twitter to promote community driven events, highlight Guild Wars 2 news and help spread the word on great GW2 videos by content creators. We've done nothing out of the ordinary to deserve this suspension, but it will be awhile before hear back from Twitter support. If you'd still like to get in contact with us via Twitter, please tweet @Peter_Chan for the time being.
If we had our Twitter account, we would be promoting Pink Day In LA...
Pink Day in LA is a community event hosted by Gamers Giving Back (GGB) and the Gaming World Entertainment Network (GW-EN). This major event brings the Guild Wars community together to raise Breast Cancer awareness and donations for the Canadian Cancer Society. It all begins on October 20!
This year, Pink Day in LA will be happening in both Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2! Similar to previous years, there will be many in-game, on-air and physical prizes to be won by participating in the event. As the name suggests, this event happens in Lion's Arch. Tune into GW-EN.com radio on October 20th to enjoy the music and participate in the contests. The official event page and click the links at the top of the page for more information: http://pinkday.gamergivingback.com/
We will be streaming the event here on GuildWars2Live.com - so please tell your friends about it! In case you don't have one or either of the games, we'll be cutting back and forth between Guild Wars 1 and 2 for the complete coverage!
Help spread the word, so that we can show the world that gamers can make a difference.
